Congratulations to Hollyburn Seniors Outreach Program
Seniors at Housing Risk Program
Social isolation affects at least 10 percent of seniors living in the Lower Mainland. Seniors at risk of losing their homes can be particularly vulnerable to isolation. The Seniors at Housing Risk Program delivered through Hollyburn Family Services Society provides support for seniors at risk of losing their homes and acts as secondary safety net for those who might end up in hospitals, emergency shelters or on the streets. Over the past year, the program has helped over 100 North Shore seniors by providing crisis assistance such as food, housing, and transportation as well as advocating for them to help keep their housing or find alternate arrangements. Staff also connect them to service provider agencies for social support. By investing in programs like the Seniors at Housing Risk Program, United Way is helping seniors remain in their homes surrounded by friends, families and neighbours and engaged in their community.
